Terms of Service

These Terms apply to genealogy research services provided by Anastasiia Burukina ("I", "me"), a sole proprietor based in Texas, through the Russian Genealogist website (russiangenealogist.com), to you ("the client"). By ordering a service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Services

I offer a free case evaluation, an optional paid consultation, research packages and optional extras, as described on the website.

2. No guarantee of results

Genealogy research depends on which records survived and what archives allow. I can't guarantee that records exist, that they will be found, or that they will contain specific information. You pay the package price or the agreed price for the research, not for a particular result.

3. Prices

Prices are listed in US dollars on the website. They include all the costs of the research, such as archive requests, copies and researchers' visits to the archives. I don't bill any expenses separately. Texas clients pay Texas sales tax where it applies.

4. Payment

Payment is due in full before work starts, whether for the consultation or for a Starter Search or Deep Search package. Payments are non-refundable, as described in Section 5.

5. Cancellations and refunds

You pay the agreed price by Zelle before I start the work. Because you pay for the research, not for a particular result, payments are non-refundable. That includes if you cancel after paying.

6. Your information and documents

You confirm that you have the right to share the documents and information you send me. How I handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Use of results

You may use the results for personal and family purposes. Original archive documents remain subject to the rules of the archives that hold them.

8. Sanctions and law

I make payments to archives and researchers in compliance with US sanctions rules. I may decline or stop work that would break the law.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, my total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service in question.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Texas.

11. Changes

I may update these Terms. The version in effect when you order applies to that order.
