Privacy Policy
Last revised: October 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Anastasiia Burukina ("I", "me"), a sole proprietor based in Texas, collects and uses your information on the Russian Genealogist website (russiangenealogist.com). I provide genealogy research services to clients in the United States.
1. Information I collect
- Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), what you want to learn, surnames, places or regions, documents you already have, whether you read Russian, how you'd like your results, and how you heard about me.
- File uploads: documents you choose to send, such as record extracts, family papers or ID documents.
- Email: anything you send me at hello@russiangenealogist.com or privacy@russiangenealogist.com.
- Payment details: payments are made by Zelle.
- Website data: I use Cloudflare Web Analytics, Google Analytics and PostHog to understand visits and how the site is used. Cloudflare Web Analytics doesn't use cookies, but it loads a script from Cloudflare. Google Analytics and PostHog may set cookies or similar identifiers and collect things like the pages you visit, your device and browser type, your approximate location and the site that sent you here. I use Google Ads to advertise the site, and I may use Google's tags to measure ad results and to show ads to people who visited the site before. You can manage ad personalization in your Google account settings.
2. How I use it
- To review your case and reply to you.
- To carry out the research you order, including sharing the details needed with archives and research partners.
- To send invoices and keep business and tax records.
- To keep the site secure and working.
- To understand how visitors use the site.
- To advertise the site and measure how ads perform.
I don't sell your information.
3. Who I share it with
- Archives and researchers, only as much as needed for each specific search.
- Service providers that run the site, email, file storage and payments.
- Analytics and advertising providers (Cloudflare, Google, including Google Ads, and PostHog).
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
Some archives and researchers are outside the United States, so your information may be handled in other countries. Analytics and advertising providers may also process data in other countries.
4. How long I keep it
I keep uploaded files and form data until you ask me to delete them. They don't expire automatically.
I keep invoices and payment records for as long as the law requires.
5. Your choices
You can ask me to see, correct or delete your information by emailing privacy@russiangenealogist.com. Please don't upload documents you don't want me to see. Sensitive documents such as passports are optional.
6. Security
I take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no method of sending or storing data is fully secure.
7. Children
This service is for adults. I don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
8. Changes
I may update this policy. The "Last revised" date above shows the latest version.
